The Chicago Bulls made a huge trade during the 2017 NBA Draft and that was trading Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and a first-round pick used on Lauri Markkanen.
There’s no argument who won the trade as Butler isn’t with the Timberwolves, but the reasoning for the Bulls to trade their star player has come to bite them.
The main reason Butler was traded in the first place was the idea that he couldn’t be the go-to guy on a championship team. Now, Butler has led the Miami Heat to the Eastern Conference Finals and is two wins away from the NBA Finals.
During the Heat’s playoff run they have swept the Indiana Pacers and defeated the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks 4-1. Butler has made this “a business trip” and has been amazing with his defense, hustle, and clutch scoring.
As the Heat are looking to reach the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014, the Bulls are still struggling to get back into the playoffs, let alone achieve a winning record.
