It was a gift from the Detroit Lions to blow their 20-3 lead, but the way the Chicago Bears played wasn’t ideal. The first three quarters it seemed like the Bears didn’t show up with the offense struggling and the defense getting gashed by Adrian Peterson.
In the fourth quarter, it seemed like everything just clicked with Mitchell Trubisky and the offense as they scored 21 unanswered points. Also, it helps that the Lions dropped the game-winning touchdown in the endzone.
Nonetheless, no matter how frustrating it was, the Bears will take the 1-0 start. Now, the Bears will be hosting the New York Giants, who are coming off a 26-16 lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Giants hung in there with the Steelers until the fourth quarter. The Giants could never get running back Saquon Barkley going as he ran for six yards on 15 carries. Quarterback Daniel Jones led some quality drives but the two interceptions cost him, especially with one coming in the end zone on a 19 play drive.
Even though the defense struggled against the Lions, they are getting help on their defensive front. Linebacker Robert Quinn is expected to make his Bears debut after signing his five-year, $70 million contract.
The Bears hope to keep things rolling after their fourth-quarter performance and to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2013.
