After a 6-month hiatus, one of FM89’s longest running shows has returned with new hosts! Tune in every Sunday from noon to 3 for a new era of Sunday Standards with Claire Roth, Courtland Anderson, and Jason Medrano! The hosts may have changed, but they’ll still play the best in jazz, show-tunes, scat, and swing from the 1920’s to the 50’s. Get to know the new hosts of Sunday Standards:
Claire is a junior studying Media and Journalism Communications with a specialization in Public Relations. When she’s not studying for classes, you can usually spot her at the local Starbucks, or with her dog Boeing (yes like the airplane). She’s constantly looking for new recipes to cook and bake because it eases her mind after a tough week. One of Claire’s favorite Sunday Standards artists is Frank Sinatra because his music gives her such a heartwarming feeling whenever she hears it. Growing up, Sinatra was always playing during family dinners, and one song her family loved to sing along to is “Fly Me to the Moon.” Her dad works in the airline industry, and having little references to flying is something brings them together (hence why they named their dog after an airplane). Claire is really looking forward to starting the show and playing what you want to hear!
Courtland is in his first year at NCC. He loves playing video games and watching movies, as well as drawing and singing. He’s very proud to be taking up the mantle of co-host for Sunday Standards, and can’t wait for you to hear the amazing musical selections they have in store. He’s a big fan of Frank Sinatra, but his favorite song from the Sunday Standards library is Julie London’s rendition of “Cry Me A River.” He also loves movies from the era, most specifically Singin’ in the Rain. He’s excited to spend his Sunday afternoons bringing great music with you!
Jason is a junior studying Interactive Media Studies and Film. He participates in various things on campus, such as marching band, theatre, and acappella. On top of that, he’s active on YouTube, TikTok, and he hosts a podcast, Real Talk Central. As someone who loves vintage swing music, he’s super excited to be a new co-host of Sunday Standards! His favorite songs that you might hear on the show include “That’s Amore,” “Earth Angel,” and “Beautiful Dreamer.” He can’t wait to bring some amazing classics to you every Sunday!
