The summer months have ended, leaves are beginning to change, the weather is beginning to cool, and footballs are beginning to fly in the air. That means that for the 1st time in over 600 days WONC Sports is looking forward to broadcasting football on FM 89! The entire Fall 2021 broadcast schedule of North Central College Football can be seen in the graphic above. WONC Sports will cover every home football game and select away games for a total of 9 NCC Football regular-season games on FM 89 this fall!
The NCC Football comes into this season ranked #4 D3Football.com after starting the preseason rankings at #3. The Cardinals went 14-1 in 2019 culminating in the first National Championship in the history of NCC Football. However, their season never got started in 2020 canceling both the fall and spring seasons. Head Coach Jeff Thorne enters his 6th season leading the program, Thorne has led North Central to a 52-9 record, including a 37-4 record in the CCIW.
The football team opened up its season on Saturday, September 11th with a victory over #21 Aurora University 64-7 at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. This coming week they will travel just across the way to rival Wheaton in a huge CCIW and D3 Football showdown. North Central will come into the game ranked #4, while Wheaton comes in ranked just one spot behind them at #5 according to the most recent D3 Football rankings.
Coverage of the Battle for the Little Brass Bell between North Central and Wheaton can be found right here on FM 89 this Saturday, September 18th with pregame coverage starting at 5:45 PM and kickoff scheduled for 6:00 PM.
