Gravity? No problem. Voice-altering item effects while you hold it? You got it. Do robots that speak look similar to Canadian characters from South Park? Definitely!
R.E.P.O. is a horror co-op voice proximity game you can play with 5 friends, or by yourself; no one’s judging here. You play as a robot that’s sent to extract items from monster-infected, or haunted, locations. The main objective is to not get destroyed by these monsters or let little monsters take or destroy your collection of items inside your cart that you are provided. Then, get your cash quota filled. The best idea is to “over-collect” in certain areas and then get refunded for extra money so you can buy more upgrades for your crew.
Prepare yourself to laugh, cry, yell at your friends, or all at the same time because this game is filled with all sorts of fun and teamwork effort. If you die, don’t worry. You’ll get revived if your friends find your head, which is evidence that you died, and put you in the cart. They bring the cart to the extraction point, leave it there, and let the extraction point revive you. Once you’ve collected your quota and gone back onto the truck, you’re brought to a store that has a collection of items.
If you need a health pack, a variety of them heal you from 25 to 50 health points. In that store, some items can increase your strength, stamina, range, and health points. There are also items that you can use to defend yourself from monsters, such as a stun gun, a blow-up hammer, or a frying pan. These work, trust me. I’ve tested it on my friends and the monsters. They get knocked out and you can pick them up and throw them into a void.
Oh, I almost forgot! Be careful not to knock your friends out or get stuck in a toilet or you’ll get flushed. Yes, you can hide in toilets from monsters. However, if you’re feeling mean enough to troll your friends, you can surely be a menace and carry your friends into voids or into a cauldron that can explode and throw them in the monster’s direction.
R.E.P.O. is available now on Steam as an early access game.
