For a long time, my family has been desiring to go on a cruise and my parents decided it was a great way to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Staying on the Norwegian Jade for a week was the highlight of my winter break as I visited Roatan Island in Honduras, Belize, Mexico, and the Bahamas. The sound of cheerful chatter consumed the air, and I was filled with excitement as my family and I embarked on the ship.
Our room had a balcony that welcomed a playful breeze and three comfortable beds (thank goodness my brother and I had separate beds—he’s such a kicker). While on board, there were countless activities to do and excellent cuisine to devour (I had a list of favorite foods from several of the dining areas); the party literally never ceased! The staff was also extremely enthusiastic and helpful.
The first destination was Roatan, my favorite out of the 4 Islands. I had a wonderful time as I experienced holding guinea pigs and sloths, and I let Honduras’s national bird rest on my arm and energetic monkeys jump on my head. Aside from spending time with animals, I snorkeled, too. The guide informed me about multiple sea creatures, and I had an amazing time swimming with my family. We visited some local shops and a chocolate factory, and I love chocolate, so it was a delightful experience letting new flavors dance in my mouth.
When we boarded the ship again, we watched a Western-themed musical and all the performers grooved with such passion. Besides the musical, I found the magic show and aerial acts extremely entertaining. There was a show every night at the multi-level theatre and all the performers gave an extraordinary performance together on the night before we disembarked.
The next destination was Belize and new adventure awaited. In Belize, my dad and my brother went kayaking while my mother and I explored the butterfly garden. Normally, I’m not a fan of insects, but butterflies are the exception. There were several beautiful butterflies that landed on me, but they all flew away before my mother got a chance to take a picture of me. We also visited some local shops and tourists’ sites when we reached Cozumel, Mexico. Our final destination was the Bahamas where we relaxed at the beach.
All in all, it was a delightful vacation, and it gave me so many pleasant memories with my family. From exploring new places and entertaining activities to fine dining that we’ll certainly think about for a long time, going on a cruise with my family created unforgettable moments. I can’t wait to go on another one!
