We’re throwing ourselves back into another edition of A Little Birdie Told Me, a series where we highlight artists we play on FM89. For this round, we’re going to look at Dylan Gardner.
Not only does this musician have two albums under his belt, he’s also an Illinois local! Dylan Gardner was born in Aurora and raised in Plainfield where he developed his craft throughout his childhood. After uploading viral 15-second clips of “Abbey Road” records to social media during his teens, he dropped his own music and went on to launch the psychedelic rock band Communicant as a young adult (which initially was intended to be another solo project). Learning many lessons as a solo artist, he has taken them with him as he makes music with Communicant, whose album “Sun Goes Out” was released last year.
Now onto some fun facts:
- Dylan’s birth was told over the radio by his father who called in shortly after he was born.
- Dylan has admitted to watching Elvis Costello’s “Pump It Up” music video as a pre-show ritual before concert performances.
- The first time Dylan heard his music on television was during the NFL Pro Bowl as he was heading to play at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
That wraps up another edition of A Little Birdie Told Me. See you in the next one!
