Jake Salzbrunn

Jake Salzbrunn spent four years at WONC, from 2019 to 2023. Jake worked in many areas during that time, starting as a DJ and then hosting a sports talk show, Between The Lines, for just over two years before moving the show to a video podcast on Youtube. During that time, he also was able to call multiple baseball, football, and basketball games, doing play-by-play and color commentary. Jake also worked in the station’s production department, making numerous promos, public service announcements, sweepers, sports re-joins and intros, and commercials. In the spring of 2023, Jake moved his talents to the audio podcasting world with a D1 college baseball podcast, The 1 Inning Guy.

During his time at WONC, Jake earned multiple award nominations for his promos, PSAs, commercials, and baseball broadcasting. Jake took second in 2022 at the Illinois Broadcasters Association Student Silver Dome Awards for Best Radio PSA for “ADOPT Pet Shelter,” and Best Radio Spot for “Chubbies Shorts.”
